Aviation Maintenance Technology

Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, a unit of Enterprise State Community College, is one of the largest Aviation Maintenance Technician Schools in the country.  The FAA has continuously certified our college since 1962 under Federal Aviation Regulations Title 14, Part 147.

Our classes are 8 weeks long and meet Monday through Thursday of each week.   We are large enough to offer both day and night classes, and we offer every aviation maintenance class every semester.  Day classes start at 7:00 am and 10:55 am.  Evening classes start at 3:45 pm and 7:10 pm.  Students can begin the program in the fall, spring, or summer.

Students can earn an FAA Airframe Certification in 12 months upon completing 4 general-level classes and 6 airframe classes, then testing with FAA representatives.  Students need only 5 more classes to qualify to test for a powerplant certificate, allowing a student to earn an FAA A&P in as little as 18 months.

The FAA has three local sites for written testing, and there are two local examiners for oral and practical testing. The 2023 and 2025 ATEC Aviation Maintenance Technician Student of the Year winners came from the Alabama Aviation College in Ozark.

Alabama Aviation College in Andalusia, a unit of Enterprise State Community College, is certified by the FAA to teach all general and airframe classes.  Classes in Andalusia are on the traditional 16-week semester schedule.  It is located at the Southern Alabama Regional Airport on Hwy 84.

Avionics

Our Avionics (Aviation Electronics) program is a 2-year, 5-semester program that includes summer classes between the freshman and sophomore years.  Unlike the Aviation Maintenance Technology classes, Avionics students only start the program in the fall semester and only meet during the day.  Avionics students typically have both class and lab time Monday through Thursday.

Mechatronics

Mechatronics is one of the world’s largest high-tech manufacturing fields that incorporates electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering. Studying Mechatronics alongside best practices for industrial maintenance gives you an edge on the latest technologies for electronics and mechanics for systems ranging from household appliances to automated machinery to unmanned vehicles.  Students have the flexibility to schedule lab time that fits their schedule.

Commercial Truck Driving

We provide training for both Class A and Class B licenses.  Our Commercial Truck Driving program consists of a traditional six-week class and the Innovation Center’s Skills for Success program designed for employees with experience driving trucks while working for a company that needs drivers with a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).  We also offer a Hazmat endorsement class online through the Innovation Center.
